Remembering " WE ARE THE WORLD "

“One of my specific memories from the ‘We Are The World’ project was when two African women came to the recording session to thank Quincy Jones and all of the other artists that participated in the recording of the song. They attempted to say thank you, but they could barely speak. Their tears spoke volumes and reflected how grateful they were for the gift of song that was being produced, to save so many lives in their country. All of us in that room teared up and that is when it really became clear that WE ARE THE WORLD. Harry Belafonte came with a mission, Quincy Jones produced the song, Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie wrote the song, and Ray Charles and I sang additional ad libs on the end of the record. Now Ray Charles and Michael Jackson are gone. I will miss them.” --James Ingram“One of my specific memories from the ‘We Are The World’ project was when two African women came to the recording session to thank Quincy Jones and all of the other artists that participated in the recording of the song.
